Congenital Coxa Vara
Congenital coxa vara is usually bilateral and occurs due to failure of ossication in the posteromedial part of the femoral neck. Infants usually present with waddling gait similar to hip dislocation.
Unilateral coxa vara .
Hilgenreiner-Epiphyseal index: increasing slope more than 45 degrees indicates progression.
As the epiphyseal slope increases, the varus deformity becomes progressive
Correction of coxa vara by Subtrochanteric valgus osteotomy. Aim is to restore neck-shaft angle to 135 degrees.
