Assessment of shoulder function in OBBP using Mallet grade. Most children with Erb’s palsy end up with weakness of the shoulder girdle.
Perisitant internal rotation attitude of the shoulder can lead to a retroverted shoulder and shoulder dislocation.
Characteristic postion of infant with Erb’s Palsy in a neonate. Note the pronated, extended forearm with flexed wrist due to involvement of C5, C6, C7 nerve root. Child attempting to reach hand to mouth. There is weakness of abduction and external rotation of the shoulder.
